THE ART OF VISUAL CONSTRUCTION
As a studied Architect based in Vienna, John Boss views the world not just as a stage, but as a blueprint for new realities. His surreal compositions are an invitation to leave the laws of physics behind and see the familiar with new eyes. Each work is a hand-made visual composition, assembled from genuine photographs taken during urban explorations and travels. Fragments of reality are deconstructed and then transformed into a new, dreamlike narrative, in places where reality and imagination flow into one another.

With the "Calling Vienna" series, John Boss presents a surreal and poetic view of his hometown.
Born from a love for Vienna and travel , he employs a "mental zoom-out" to transform familiar landmarks into new, surprising contexts.
This is Vienna suspended between dream and reality:
the images are humorous, thoughtful, familiar, and yet foreign at the same time.
The series serves as a stage for imagination and a projection surface for new perspectives , inviting the viewer to feel that there is more out there than the eye perceives.
